We have all had our experiences with bullies. It is not something we look forward to, is it? Sometimes bullies will pull your hair or call you names. Sometimes they will start a fight or point out to the world that you have a funny looking freckle or that one of your teeth is sitting crooked. Bullies can hurt you physically and hurt your feelings too. Roxie Warbler was a kid who made a perfect target for four bullies in her school because Roxie had big ears. Four hooligans (bullies) set out to make her life miserable. They seemed to be looking for things in kids that made them look different from each other ... and then they attacked. Luckily, Roxie's Uncle Dangerfoot was a close friend of Lord Thistlebottom who wrote the Book of Pitfalls and How to Survive Them! She listened intently when Uncle Dangerfoot described their adventures, and of course, she read the book. But, will she be ready for the horrible fix the hooligans get her into this time? She knew what to do if a crocodile attacked "... don't panic ... cover the beast's eyes and try to climb on his back ..." but the book didn't mention what to do when you are buried in garbage with four horrible hooligans and then dumped in the ocean! If you love a good laugh and a rollicking adventure, you will love reading Roxie and the Hooligans by Phyllis Reynolds Naylor. It is one of our Kids Wings' all-time favorites!
