The Penderwicks' Song
Lyrics by Suzy Red, Melody and Performance by Liz Sanchez

The Penderwicks are back again:
Four girls and their dad.
But going back in time, we'll see
What made them very sad.

When Batty was a tiny babe
Sweet and soft and new,
Her mother became very sick,
But how sick, no one knew.

She loved her husband and her girls
And tried to leave her best
By writing a letter on paper of blue
That would explain the rest.

Aunt Claire kept the letter safe
Until the time was right,
She'd save it for the four girls' dad
To make his future bright.

Four years flew by like blinks in time
And now the time had come.
Aunt Claire would bring the letter of blue
To be read by everyone.

"Martin, my love, you must move on.
The children are becoming mature.
I want you to date to find a new love,
So you will be happy for sure."

Now Daddy was a botanist.
A professor type was he,
He loved to speak Latin and Greek
When his girls went on a spree.

So this dating thing gave Daddy a pain.
His life he wanted the same.
But he'd honor the words of goneaway wife
And jump into the dating game.

Rosalind, Skye, Batty, and Jane,
Daddy's girls were there at his side.
But they didn't like this dating game
And Daddy? He wanted to hide!

What would happen on his first blind date?
Would he fall in love with her?
And would she become the girls' stepmom?
Would their laughter become a gr-r-r-r?
