Every day, our world presents a myriad of opportunities for problem solving and wise decision making. We are called to work together in strong, cooperative, respectful teams that blend our diverse gifts and talents to create a new strength of vision and purpose. In this year's award-winning literature, we will focus on the TEMPESTS that the characters experience in their lives and the TEAMWORK that helps strengthen their resolve to overcome the tempests. In highlighting the natural and developed gifts that produce success and happiness in characters' lives, we will inspire character building in our own students, to prepare them for the tempests that challenge them now and in the future by forging strong teams with high values.

Award-winning literature provides a myriad of scenarios filled with people who recognize their strengths, develop their talents, use their gifts, those who face TEMPESTS and use TEAMWORK to prepare them for success and support them up when things get rough. Literature is an motivating catalyst for discovering that teamwork can change hopelessness into hope, uselessness into direction, darkness into light, and fear into courage.

Educators who KNOW the best literature will be able put the right book into the hands of a child who is searching for strength in skills, focus, or character. The special talents of story characters and real people can become role models to inspire students to develop their own talents as they persue their dreams. It is these gifts and talents that can be identified as foundational to success in making choices that can enrich the lives of friends, family, and community around them.

Outstanding literature with focused instructional strategies in the Kids' Wings Tempests and Teamwork workshop help clarify the value of teamwork. The real-life lessons cross disciplines and teaching strategies for nurturing creative and critical thinking for your gifted and talented students as well as those who are not yet identified. They increase creative problem solving and group interaction within your classroom. Literature from all genres will inspire your students to discover how characters face tempests and use teamwork to problem-solve. From here, it is only a short hop to relating these techniques to their own lives.

Award-winning literature for grades 3-7 will transform your classroom into a vibrant, interactive, exciting place.
