"All days with animals are good days." Grampa Bender Wild
Times at the Bed and Biscuit
Grampa Bender is a kind veterinarian who usually boards pets in his Bed and Biscuit, but something new is up! Things are about to get wild! The wildlife refuge is renovating their shelter and need Grampa's help, so he has volunteered to take care of a wounded goose with an arrow in its neck, two kit foxes that lost their mother before they learned how to hunt, and a grumpy old muskrat with an infected foot. Luckily, Grampa has a "staff" that helps him with the new boarders. Who are Grampa's staff? Well, there's Ernest the mini-pig, Milly the cat, Gabby the Vietnamese hill mynah, and Sir Walter the Scottie puppy. They talk and work together to help Grampa with the wild critters, but unfortunately, Grampa can't understand what the animals say. Well, that is, except for Gabby who is their interpreter. Will Grampa be able to save the hurt goose? Will Grampa be able to save the old muskrat's foot? What will happen to the little foxes who refuse to eat? The veterinary team may be able to handle most emergency, but when Sir Walter becomes a little too friendly with the foxes, wild times start for real! Get ready for some FUN, learning about VOICE in literature, and GREAT VOCABULARY BUILDING! Do YOU know what "crepuscular animals" are?
