Loves Books (and I don't)
by Barbara Bottner
Kids Wings Award Book
Brooks will do anything to get us read books. She has dressed
as a long-eared bunny when she read a book about a rabbit,
a grey elephant when she read Babar,
and a big green caterpillar when she read The
Very Hungry Caterpillar. I just never know what kind
of strange creature Miss Brooks will become to encourage
me to read a book.
it's not going to work! I won't fall for it.
see Miss Brooks loves books, but I don't.
Book Week, Miss Brooks told to pick our favorite story and
dress like someone or something in the story. She wanted
us to show everyone why they loved the book. How could I
pick my favorite? I didn't like any of them!
do you think happens? Do you think Miss Brooks will win?
Do you think I can hold out against all those books in the
Brooks Loves Books (and I don't) by Barbara Bottner
will inspire kids to find that favorite book and librarians
to become the real-life literary characters to do the inspiring!
The great illustrations on stark, uncluttered white background
help readers focus on the emotions and humor of the story.
It's a story that SHOULD look familiar to students who have
a firecracker librarian-cheerleader and a love of books,
as well to those reluctant readers among us!
